A selection of material from the Archives has gone on exhibition in the staircase display case (leading down to the lower ground floor).
The theme is ‘Did You Know’ and the exhibition examines some lesser-known facts about DMU history. For example, did you know that the DMU lion logo originates in the heraldry of the City of Leicester?
Did you know that the John Whitehead Building used to be a clothing factory owned by William Baker? I couldn’t resist the opportunity to use these fantastic dolls which came to us as part of the archive of the company. They seem to be wearing pyjamas that match those in the Beautex children’s range.
Did you know that the Kimberlin Library used to have an exhibition hall attached? It’s number 12 on this 1977 map of the campus.
I could go on but I don’t want to spoil the display …
